If  ${(1+\alpha x)}^n=1+8x+24x^2+\mathrm{.....}$ and a line through $P(\alpha ,n)$ cuts the circle  $x^2+y^2=4$  in A and B, then  $\text{PA\hspace{0.17em}}.\text{\hspace{0.17em}PB}$  is equal to 

 $1+n\alpha x+\frac{n(n-1)}{2}{\left(\alpha x\right)}^2+\mathrm{....}=1+8x+24x^2+\mathrm{....}$
  $n\alpha =8 \frac{n(n-1)}{2}{\alpha }^2=24$ 
  $n=4 \frac{n\alpha (n\alpha -\alpha )}{2}=24$ 
                                           $\frac{8(8-\alpha )}{2}=24$
                                          $8-\alpha =6$
                                          $\alpha =2$
$\therefore P(2,4)$ 
$PA.PB=\left|S_{11}\right|=|4+16-4|=16$
