Detailed Solution

Concept- By using the unitary method we will find the price of 1 pound of nuts, and also for 2 and 6 pounds of nuts. Then by adding both costs, we will have the total cost. Therefore, on dividing it with the total poundsthe  of the mixture, we will have a cost of 1 pound of mixture.
For 6 pounds of nuts that cost $1.20 per pound,
1 pound of nuts =$1.20
6 pounds of nuts becomes 6×1.20=$7.20
For 2 pounds of nuts that cost of $1.60 per pound,
1 pound of nuts =$1.60
2 pounds of nuts becomes 2×1.60=$3.20
Total pounds of nuts =6+2=8 pounds
Therefore, the total cost 8 pounds mixture becomes =$7.20+$3.20=$10.40
So, cost of 1 pound of mixture =10.408=$1.30
Hence, the correct answer is option 1.
