Given,
Time taken by 7 taps to fill the tank = 1 hour 36 minutes.
We know that,
1 hour = 60 minutes.
1 hour 36 minutes = (60+36) minutes.
1 hour 36 minutes = 96 minutes.
Then,
Time taken by 7 taps to fill the tank

= 96 minutes

.
Let the time taken by 8 taps to fill the tank be x minutes.
Then,

Time taken (in minutes)	96	x
Number of taps	7	8

We can clearly see that, more the number of taps, less will be time taken to fill the tank. Therefore, this is the case of inverse proportion.
As this is case of inverse proportion, therefore the product will remain constant throughout table that is,

96 × 7 = x × 8

Solving the equation,

8 x = 672 x = 6728 x = 84

= 60 + 24 = 1 hr 24 min.
Hence, the time taken by 8 taps to fill the tank is 84 minutes or 1 hour 24 minutes.
Therefore, option 2 is correct.
