Detailed Solution

The 60 W bulb will glow brighter than the 40 W bulb when connected in parallel.
The rate at which an electric device converts electric current into another form of energy is known as electric power. So it can be measured as energy consumption per second.
Here electrical energy is converted into light energy.
For  P60 W>P40 W  i.e. Bulb 1 (60 W) is greater in power dissipation than bulb 2 (40 W). Therefore, the 60W bulb will consume more energy per second than the bulb 2. The more energy consumption, the more electrical energy will be converted into light energy. So it will glow brighter than the 40 W bulb when connected in parallel.
