Detailed Solution

The midpoint of two points x1,y1 and x2,y2 is calculated by the formula: x1+x22,y1+y22

So, let the midpoint of (-7,14) &(k, 4) be (a, b)

On substitution, we get:

-7+k2,14+42=(a,b)

a=-7+k2; b=9

Given equation of the line: 2a + 3b = 5

On substitution, we get:

  2×(-7+k)2+3(9)=5

 -7 + k +27=5

 k + 20=5

 k =5 - 20

 k =-15
