If an electric refrigerator rated 400W operates 8 hours per day, then 96 kWh energy needed to operate it for 30 days.  Given,  Power (P)=400 W  ………………… (i)
Time (t)=8 Hr per day
Then for 30 days time will become (t)= 30×8 h
                                                                  =240 h  ……………………. (ii)
Thus, the energy consumed (in kWh) by the refrigerator in 30 days can be calculated by the formula.
Energy (E)=Power × Time ……………… (iii)
Now put the above values of equations (i), (ii) in equation (iii) we get,
=>E=(400 W)(240  h) =>E=96000 Wh =>E=96 kWh
