Detailed Solution

The mass of an object on the moon is 60 Kg if its weight on earth is 588 N.
We know that W=m×g
where, W is the weight of an object
m is the mass of an object
g is the gravitational acceleration.
According to the given data, the parameters on the earth’s surface are
= 588 N and = 9.8 m/s2
By putting these data in the above formulae, we get
    588=m×9.8
 m=5889.8
 m=60Kg Therefore, the mass of an object is 60 Kg if its weight is 588 N.  Since the mass is constant and independent of where it is calculated, the mass of objects on earth and moon is the same.
