If one man add 6l of water to 10l of milk and another man add 4l of water to 8l of milk. Find the ratio of milk in the two mixtures.

A man adds 6 lit of water to 10 lit of milk so the ratio of water to milk in the first mixture becomes = 6 : 10

The part of the milk in the first type of mixture $=\frac{10}{6+10}=\frac{10}{16}=\frac{5}{8}$

Another man adds 4 litres of water so 8 litre of milk

So the ratio of water to milk in the 2nd mixture becomes

  = 4 : 8 i.e, 1 : 2

The part of the milk in the 2nd type of mixture $=\frac{2}{1+2}=\frac{2}{3}$

The ratio of the milk in two mixtures is given by

$=\frac{5}{8}:\frac{2}{3}\Rightarrow \frac{\frac{5}{2}}{\frac{8}{3}}\Rightarrow \frac{5}{8}\times \frac{3}{2}\Rightarrow \frac{15}{16}\Rightarrow 15:16$
