The given equation is x2+px+q=0

Since one root is sqaure of the other, suppose that the roots of the abvoe equation are α,α2

Hence, sum of the roots is α+α2=-p and the product of the roots is α3=q

from both of the above equations eliminate α to get the condition

Substitute α=q13 in the equation α+α2=-p

q13+q23=-p

Cubing on both sides 

q+q2+3q-p=-p3p3+q2+q=3pq
