Detailed Solution

Let first term and common difference of the A.P. be  'a' and 'b' respectively

then an=a+(n1)d

3rd term a3=a+(31)d

a+2d=4(1)

9th term a9=a+(91)d

a+8d=8(2)(2)(1),a+8d=8a+2d=4_    6d=12d=126d=12d=2

a+2d=4a4=4a=4+4=8

Let the 'n' th term of A.P. be zero, then

a+(n1)d=08+(n1)(2)=082n+2=0102n=02n=10n=102n=5

Fifth term of A.P. is zero.
