Detailed Solution

Given that,

The coordinates of two points are A(3,4), B(5,−2)

P(x,5) is a point PA=PB              PA2=PB2

We know that the distance between 𝐴(𝑥₁, 𝑦₁) and 𝐵(𝑥₂, 𝑦₂) is given by

AB=x2x12+y2y12 units

The distance between 𝑃(𝑥, 5) and 𝐴(3, 4), 𝑃(𝑥, 5) and 𝐵(5, − 2) is

PA2=PB2(x3)2+(54)2=(x5)2+(5+2)2x26x+9+1=x210x+25+496x+10=10x+744x=64x=16P(x,5)=P(16,5)

 Area of triangle =12x1y2y3+x2y3y1+x3y1y2 sq units

A(3,4),B(5,2),P(16,5)

area (ΔPAB)=12|3(25)+5(516)+16(4+2)|

=12|3(7)+5(1)+16(6)|=12|21+5+96|=12|80|=40 sq units

Hence, the area of ∆𝑃𝐴𝐵 = 40 𝑠𝑞 𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑠
