If the current in a conductor is directed towards the east and the magnetic field at that place is directed towards the north, the force on the conductor will be in the vertically upward direction.
The direction of the force on the conductor can be known using Fleming's left-hand rule. According to Fleming's left-hand rule, "if we arrange the index finger towards the north (magnetic field), middle finger towards the east (direction of current), then the thumb points vertically upwards (direction of force). Hence, the direction of force is vertically upwards on the conductor.
