If increase or decrease in the length of a wire, its resistance may increase and decrease. When the wire's length is tripled, resistance will also become three times. The resistance of a wire is inversely proportional to its area of cross-section and directly proportional to its length. That is,
    Resistance, R= ρ×lA
Where,
A is area of cross-section of wire
ρ is resistivity of the wire and l is length of the wire
Therefore, when the length of a wire is tripled, its resistance also gets tripled, and if the length of wire is halved, then its resistance also gets halved. So we conclude that a long wire or conductor has more resistance, and a short wire has less resistance.
