Detailed Solution

If the metal clip used in an electroscope is replaced by an ebonite rod and a charged body is brought in contact with it then the aluminium strips will not show any repulsion.
An electroscope is a tool used to check whether or not an object is charged.
It is made up of two aluminium strips that are placed closely next to one another. Strips that have charges applied to them repel one another and leave a large space between them. The charged body will not transfer any charge to an ebonite rod because an ebonite rod is an insulator. Therefore, the aluminium strips will not get any charge and as a result, there will be no repulsion in the aluminium strips.
