Detailed Solution

 Let r1 be the radius of the circle, r2 be the radius of new circle with an increased radius and r be the change in radius.

Given r1=5cm and r2=5.1cm.

Change in radius =r=r2-r1=(5.1-5)cm=0.1cm.

Let A be the area of the circle with radius 5cm and change in area is A.

We know r=dr and A=dA.

The formula of area of a circle is πradius2 units2.

Now, rate of change of area A with respect to radius is dAdr.

dAdr=dπr2dr=πdr2dr=2πr.

As the formula of differentiation of xn=n.xn-1.

Now, Change in area= A=dA=dAdrdr

By substituting the values of dAdr,dr in above equation

A=dAdrdr=(2πr)0.1             =2×π×5×0.1=10×0.1×π=π cm2.

 Therefore, Increase in area =πcm2.
