Given that the volume of a right circular cone of height 9 cm is 48π cm 3 .  
We know that,
Volume of cone = 1 3 π r 2 h.  
We have,
Height of cone, h=9cm.    Volume of cone =48πc m 3 .  
So, we have,
  1 3 π r 2 h = 48π  
⇒ 1 3 π r 2 ×(9) = 48π  
⇒3π r 2  = 48π ⇒ r 2  = 48π 3π  
⇒ r 2 =16 ⇒r= 16 ⇒r=4  
Therefore, the radius of the base is 4 cm.
