Solution:

Concept: The electric potential of a charged body refers to its ability to do labor.

The more a charged body's ability to operate, the bigger its electric potential.

The labor required to charge a body to 1 coulomb is, of course, a measure of its electric potential.

i.e.,

V = W/Q

Where,

W stands for work completed or potential energy in joules.

Q is the charge measured in coulombs

The joules/coulomb or volt will be the unit of electric potential.

If W = 1 joule, Q = 1 coulomb then V = 1/1 = 1 volt.

If 1 joule of work is done to give a body a charge of 1 coulomb, it is said to have an electric potential of 1 volt.

Given:

4 C charge has 40-joule potential energy.

V = W/Q

V = 40/4

V = 10 volt
