If three chairs and two tables cost Rs1,850. Five chairs and three tables cost Rs 2,850. Then the total cost of one chair and one table is Rs 850.
Let,
Cost of one chair be Rs

According to the question,

3 x + 2 y = 1850

.....(1)

5 x + 3 y = 2850

......(2)
Now multiplying equation (1) by 5 and equation (2) by 3,

15 x + 10 y = 9250

.....(3)

15 x + 9 y = 8550

......(4)
Now subtracting equation (4) from equation (3),

\Rightarrow y = 700

Put this value in eq (1),

\Rightarrow 3 x + 2 (700) = 1850

\Rightarrow 3 x + 1400 = 1850

\Rightarrow 3 x = 450

\Rightarrow x = 150

Now total cost of 1 chair and 1 table =

x + y

\Rightarrow 150 + 700 = 850

Hence, total cost of 1 chair and 1 table is Rs 850.
