Detailed Solution

Given, a fraction reduces to 1 if we add 1 to the numerator and subtract 1 from the denominator. It becomes 1 2   if we add 1 to the denominator.
Assume fraction = x y  .
According to the question,
x+1 y1 =1 x+1=1 y1 x+1=y1 xy=11
x – y = -2
Other equation is,
x y+1 = 1 2 2x=1 y+1 2x=y+1
2x – y = 1
Using elimination method,
(2x - y) - (x - y) = (1 - (-2))
2x – y – x + y = 1 + 2
x = 1 + 2
x = 3
Now, the value of y is,
3 – y = - 2
y = - 2 - 3
-y = - 5
y = 5
Fraction = x y = 3 5  .
The fraction is 3 5  .
Hence, option 1 is correct.
