Now, (2x + 3y) : (x + 4y) = (2x + 3y)(x + 4y)

 Now, Divide the numerator and denominator by y, and we get: 

 [(2x + 3y)y] [(x + 4y)2]= [2(xy) + 3] [(xy) + 4]

By putting xy = 12, we get:

   [2(xy) + 3] [(xy) + 4] =  [2(12) + 3] [(12) + 4] = 89 = 8 : 9

Therefore the value of (2x + 3y) : (x + 4y) = 8 : 9
