Concept: Simple algebraic subtraction is required to answer the question. Before performing the computation, convert the kilometres to metres using the conversion factor. The units of the two quantities must match when we subtract one from the other.
Assume the distances between Ramja's and Sana's homes are y=1 km 650 m and x=2 km 345 m, respectively, from their respective schools.
Since 1 km= 1000 m, we may express the distance bet[7]ween Sana's home and their school in metres.

x = 2 (1000 m) + 345 m

x = 2000 m + 345 m

x = 2345 m

In a similar manner, we may calculate the distance in metres from Ramija's home to their school.

y = (1000 m) + 650 m

y = 1000 m + 650 m

y = 1650 m

On subtracting equation (1) and (2) we get

x - y

= 2345 - 1650

= 695 metres

Hence, the correct answer is option 2.
