Given $A=\{1,2,3,4,5\}, B=\{0,2,4,6,8\}$

The symmetric difference of two sets is defined as  $A\Delta B=(A-B)\cup (B-A)$

The set $A-B$ means it is a set having elements of the set $A$ and not in the set $B$.

Hence,
