Given that ${\mathrm{x}}^2+\mathrm{px}+1$ is factor of ${\mathrm{ax}}^3+\mathrm{bx}+\mathrm{c}=0,$ then let ${\mathrm{ax}}^3+\mathrm{bx}+\mathrm{c}=({\mathrm{x}}^2+\mathrm{px}+1)(\mathrm{ax}+\mathrm{\lambda })$, where $\lambda$ is a constant. Then equating the coefficients of the powers of x on both sides, we get

$0=\mathrm{ap}+\mathrm{\lambda }, \mathrm{b}=\mathrm{p\lambda }+\mathrm{a}, \mathrm{c}=\mathrm{\lambda }$

$\Rightarrow \mathrm{p}=-\frac{\mathrm{\lambda }}{\mathrm{a}}=-\frac{\mathrm{c}}{\mathrm{a}}$

Hence $\mathrm{b}=(-\frac{\mathrm{c}}{\mathrm{a}})\mathrm{c}+\mathrm{a} \mathrm{or} \mathrm{ab}={\mathrm{a}}^2-{\mathrm{c}}^{2 }$.
