If $\left[\mathrm{x}\right]$ denotes the greatest integer not exceeding $\mathrm{x}$ then $\text{f}\left(x\right)$ defined by

$\mathrm{f}\left(\mathrm{x}\right)=\left\{\begin{array}{c}\left[\mathrm{x}\right]\mathrm{ }: \mathrm{ }\mathrm{x}<2\\ \left[\mathrm{x}\right]-1\mathrm{ }: \mathrm{ }\mathrm{x}\ge 2\end{array}\right.$

$\mathrm{At}\mathrm{ }\mathrm{x}=2,\mathrm{ }\mathrm{L}\mathrm{ }\mathrm{H}\mathrm{ }\mathrm{L}=\mathrm{ }\underset{\mathrm{x}\to 2^{-}\mathrm{ }}{\lim }\left[\mathrm{x}\right]=1$

$\mathrm{R}\mathrm{ }\mathrm{H}\mathrm{ }\mathrm{L}=\underset{\mathrm{x}\to {2^{+}}^{\mathrm{ }}\mathrm{ }}{\lim }\left[\mathrm{x}\right]-1=2-1=1$

$\mathrm{L}\mathrm{ }\mathrm{H}\mathrm{ }\mathrm{L}=\mathrm{R}\mathrm{ }\mathrm{H}\mathrm{ }\mathrm{L}=\mathrm{f}\left(\mathrm{x}\right)\therefore \mathrm{f}\mathrm{ }\mathrm{is}\mathrm{ }\mathrm{continuous}\mathrm{ }\mathrm{at}\mathrm{ }\mathrm{x}=2$

Since $\left[x\right]$ is continuous  in $[1, 2]$

$\left[\mathrm{x}\right]-1\mathrm{ }\mathrm{is}\mathrm{ }\mathrm{continuous}\mathrm{ }[2,3]$

$\mathrm{f}\left(\mathrm{x}\right)\mathrm{ }is\mathrm{ }\mathrm{continuous}\mathrm{ }\mathrm{in}\mathrm{ }[1,3)$
