Detailed Solution

Iltutmish’s daughter, Razia, became Sultan of Delhi in 1236. Minhaj-i-Siraj, a chronicler of the age, wrote that she was more qualified and able than all of her brothers to become the Sultan. But her brothers were not ready to accept her as a queen and ruler. Nor were the nobles happy to see her ruling independently. So in 1240, Razziya was removed from her throne. The social order in the society was based on birthright and gender distinctions. Minhaj-i-Siraj thought that Raziya went against the prevalent ideal social order which God had created, according to which women were supposed to be dominated by men.
