After ovulation, the ruptured Graafian follicle transforms into a yellow body called corpus luteum which secretes progesterone, oestrogens, relaxin, and inhibin. If fertilisation occurs, corpus luteum is rescued from regression by hCG secreted by the placenta. If fertilisation does not occur, corpus luteum degenerates into corpus albicans. Corpus callosum is a broad band of myelinated fibres that connects the right and left cerebral hemispheres. Corpus spongiosum is the midventral mass of tissue in the body of the penis that encloses the spongy urethra.
