Detailed Solution

In salt, Mahatma Gandhi found a powerful symbol that could unite the nation against the British government of India as salt was consumed by rich and poor alike. It overcame regional, caste, class, and religious divides and brought the country together. The monopoly exercised by the British government on salt and the high taxation imposed on salt exposed the most repressive aspect of British authority. By initially breaching the salt prohibition, Gandhi urged people to breach colonial laws in addition to refusing(disobedient) to do business with the British. This gave birth to the Cil Disobedience Movement in 1930. Numerous Indians disobeyed the salt law, produced salt, and protested in front of government salt facilities around the nation.
