Mahatma Gandhi organized satyagraha activities in numerous locations after arriving in India. The concept of satyagraha emphasized the importance of seeking out the truth and the strength of the truth. The truth was compelled to prevail through this conflict. Mahatma Gandhi thought that the dharma of nonviolence might bring all Indians together. To assist the peasants of Gujarat's Kheda district, he organized a satyagraha in 1917. The peasants of Kheda were asking for a relaxation of revenue collection because they could not pay due to crop failure and a plague epidemic.
