In Wardha on 14 July, 1942 the session of the India National Congress presented the historical Quit India movement. On 8 August 1942, in Bombay, the All India Congress Committee supported the goal which required a peaceful mass battle against the British. It was at this event that Gandhiji conveyed the renowned Do or Die discourse. People conducted hartals, shows and parades against the government.
