Detailed Solution

In 1829, sati was banned. In Calcutta, Raja Ram Mohun Roy established the Brahmo Sama. He argued that unfair practises must end and society must undergo reform. He was keen to spread Western education, women's equality, and women's independence throughout the nation. Ram Mohun Roy spearheaded an attack on the sati custom. He made an effort to demonstrate through his writings that ancient writings did not support the practise of burning widows. Sati was declared unlawful in 1829. Later, reformers took Ram Mohun's strategy and looked for a passage or sentence in the old sacred scriptures that supported their viewpoint in order to combat detrimental behaviour.
