In 1845, weavers in Silesia revolted against an insufficient supply of raw materials.
In 1845, Silesia weavers led a rebellion against contractors who supplied raw materials to weave finished goods. Although these contractors provided the weavers with raw materials to weave textiles, they drastically reduced their payments. Employees were living in impoverishment and misery. They needed higher salaries. However, the weavers in Silesia were treated with contempt and intimidation. Thus, on the fourth of June, at 2 pm, a large crowd of weavers left their homes and marched in pairs to the contractor's mansion. Then, some weavers stormed into the house. They destroyed the mansion and broke into the storehouse, where all the clothes were kept.
