Detailed Solution

To ensure their dominance in the country, the East India Company began to target rulers and kings across India. They gradually grew in economic influence and earned a large amount of power. They could now impose wills upon the rulers and have a say in the administrative and revenue systems. They targeted the Mughals, who had been one of the most formidable dynasties in Indian history.
