In 1917, Gandhi organised the first Satyagraha in India at Champaran.
During his time in South Africa, Gandhi led numerous satyagrahas and other struggles against racist British remarks and the legal system. He had learned a lot about the struggles and protests in South Africa through practice and employment, and he had also joined their hands. But soon after he realised that his motherland needed more of his hand to acquire freedom, he left his experimental station, South Africa, for India in 1915. Soon after his arrival and an expedition through India as per the suggestion of Gopalakrishna Gokhale, he set out for his first satyagraha movement in Champaran, Bihar, in 1917 against the oppressive plantation system.
