A Satyagraha was organised in 1918 to support the cotton mill workers in Ahmedabad. Mahatma Gandhi led the cotton mill workers on a strike against the authorities, who had refused to pay them higher wages. The mill owners wanted to withdraw the plague bonus of the workers. Mahatma Gandhi went on a hunger strike to support the mill workers when they seemed to weaken.
