Detailed Solution

In 1930, Mahatma Gandhi marched to break the salt law.
The government was given sole authority to produce and sell salt under the terms of the salt law. This law, in the opinion of Mahatma Gandhi, was severe and unnecessary. He and his supporters marched from Ahmedabad's Sabarmati Ashram to the beach village of Dandi, where they broke the salt law by collecting and making salt by boiling seawater. Gandhi thought that since salt was a common product used by both the rich and the poor, it could serve as a catalyst for bringing the country together to fight for a shared goal.
