In 1947 the boundaries of several old states were changed based on language. After independence, the limits of antique states were modified to create new states. This became more often than not performed to ensure that humans speak identical languages, share equal cultures, and many others can stay within a similar state. At the time of independence in 1947, India consisted of 571 disjointed princely states that had been merged collectively to shape 27 states.
