Detailed Solution

In 1999, the population doubled to around six billion. Around 2.6 billion people were estimated as the world population in the year 1950. In the years 1987 and 1999, it reached 5 and 6  billion. The global population was estimated to reach 7 billion in October 2011. The population doubled to the level of 6 billion in the year 1999, less than 30 years later. There are several reasons for population growth such as better food supplies and medicine, and the death rate was reduced,  but the birth rate remains high. The number of live births per one thousand people is called the birth rate. Death rates are those rates that cause death per thousand people.
