Detailed Solution

In 19th century India, conservative Hindus believed that a literate girl would be widowed.
When women's schools were established in cities and towns after the middle of the nineteenth century, liberal husbands and fathers started educating their female family members at home and sent them to school. However, not all households were liberal. Conservative Hindus thought that an educated girl would become a widow, and Muslims worried that reading Urdu romances would corrupt educated women. Rebellious women occasionally disobeyed these restrictions. There were multiple cases of girls who attended school secretly or against the wishes of their families during that time.
