Detailed Solution

In 2001, the Scheduled Castes were 16.2 per cent, and the Scheduled Tribes were 8.2 per cent of the total population. The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are counted separately in the Indian Census. Numerous castes or tribes whose names are included in an official Schedule are included in both of these major categories. Hence, their name begins with Scheduled. Those formerly considered "outcastes" in the Hindu social order and were subject to marginalisation and untouchability are included in the Scheduled Castes, often known as Dalits. The Scheduled Tribes, also known as Adivasis, are a group of communities that lived in isolation, frequently in hills and forests, and had little contact with the rest of society.
