Draw the diagram according to the given data,

PQ=24cm
RS=10cm PM=12cm  and RN=5cm [Perpendicular from the centre bisects the chord]
In right angled triangle OMP and ONR ,
By pythagoras theorem,
OP2=OM2+MP2 OM2=OP2-MP2
OM=OP2-MP2 OM=132-122 OM=169-144
OM=25 cm
OM=5cm Similarly,
OR2=ON2+RN2 ON2=OR2-RN2
ON=OR2-RN2 ON=132-52 ON=169-25
ON=144
ON=12 cm Then, the distance between the chords is
MN=ON-OM MN=12-5 cm
MN=7cm
Hence, distance between the chords is 7cm.
