Detailed Solution

Given,
The mast of the actual ship is 15 m high, the length of the ship is 35 m.
Length of the mast of the model ship if the length of the mast of the actual ship is 1500 cm = 9cm.  [1 m = 100 cm]
Let the length of the model ship when the length of the actual ship is 3500 cm be x cm.
Then,

Length of mast (in cm)

Length of ship (in cm)

Actual ship

1500

3500

Model of ship

9

x

We can clearly observe that, the more the length of the actual ship, the more will be the length of the model ship.
Therefore, this is the case of direct proportion.
As this is a case of direct proportion, therefore the ratio will remain constant throughout the table that is,
1500 9 = 3500 x 500 3 = 3500 x   Cross multiplying the equation,
500×x=3500×3   Solving for x,
x= 10500 500 x=21   Hence, length of a model ship when the length of the actual ship is 35 m= 21cm.
Therefore, option 4 is correct.
