It is given that,

Length of the hall (l) = 20 m

Breadth of the hall (b) = 10 m

Height of the hall (h) = 4 m

Area of the four walls of the hall = Perimeter of the base ×Height of the hall

= 2(l + bh

= 2(20 m + 10 m)×4 m

= 2×30×4 m2 = 240 m2

The dimension of the ceiling is 20 m × 10 m.

Therefore, area of the ceiling = 20 m × 10 m = 200 m2

Thus, the total area of the part of the hall that requires to be painted

= (240 + 200) m2= 440 m2

Cost of the painting of 1 m2 area = Rs 10

Hence, the amount of money required to paint the desired part of the hall = Rs 440 × 10

= Rs. 4400
