Detailed Solution

concept - Solar panels are used to generate renewable energy from the sun's rays.
In solar panels, first, sunlight hits the surface of the solar panel. Now, whenever a ray or beam reaches a surface, either one of these 3 or a combination of these scenarios will occur in reflection, absorption, and transmission. Reflection occurs when an incident ray returns back to the same medium from which it came, at an angle to the surface of the other medium. Absorption occurs when these rays are absorbed by the medium they hit. And finally, transmission occurs when the incident beam does not interact with the given body at all and passes through it directly.
Once these sun rays hit the solar panel, the photovoltaic cells in the solar panel are activated. These photovoltaic cells interact with this sunlight and create electricity from the photons in this sunlight.
Of the options offered, the metal with the highest thermal and electrical conductivity is silver.
Thus, silver is used in solar panels.
Hence, the correct option is (3).
