Detailed Solution

Given a triangle ABC in which AB = AC and AB is produced to D such that BD = BC.
Question ImageUsing angle sum property,
ACB + BAC + CBA = 180°   Also, angles opposite to equal sides are equal
As, AB = AC, therefore ABC=ACB(1)   In triangle BDC, BD = BC.
Therefore, BDC=BCD(2)
Using exterior angle property in triangle BDC,
ABC=BDC+BCD ABC=BDC+BDC ABC=2BDC(3)
Similarly,
ABC=2BCD ACB=2BCD.(4)   Now,
ACD=ACB+BCD ACD:ADC=(ACB+BCD):ADC(5)
Putting the values,
ACD:ADC=(2BDC+BCD):BDC ACD:ADC=(3BDC):BDC(6)
ACD: ADC = 3 : 1   The ratio is 3: 1.
Hence, option 3 is correct.
