Detailed Solution

Concept- As per the question statement, there are three papers and a candidate needs 35% marks out of total to pass overall three.
We will calculate the maximum total marks achievable in the 3 papers from the data given in the question itself, and then calculate 35% of the total.
Then we will need to subtract this 35% of the maximum total marks achievable in the 3 papers from the summation of what he/she has achieved in the 2 papers whose data is provided in the question statement.
Maximum total achievable marks = (150 + 150 + 180)
            = 480
35% of the maximum total achievable marks = Question Image        = Question Image        = Question Image        = 168.
Marks the candidate has achieved in the given two papers = (62 + 35)
                = 97.
Therefore, marks he/she needs to score in the third paper to just qualify in overall = (168 – 97) = 71.
Hence, the Correct Answer is option 4) 71.
