In an hybridization experiment same true breeding parents with contrasting traits for a character are used. In one experiment Plant  A is used as male and plant B is used as female. In another one plant A is used as female and B is used as male. Such cross is called as  

A cross between homozygous recessive male and a homozygous dominant female, and a separate cross between a homozygous dominant male and homozygous recessive female is called Reciprocal cross. It is designed to test the role of parental sex on a given inheritance pattern. All parent organisms must be true breeding to properly carry out such an experiment.
