The ethnic Massacre in Kosovo harmed the families of Albanians in April 1999.
Before the breakup of Yugoslavia, Kosovo was a province. This province's population was predominantly Albanian. However, Serbs outnumbered everyone else in the country. Milosevic, a narrow-minded Serb nationalist, had won the election. His regime was bitterly opposed to Kosovo Albanians. He desired the Serbs to rule the country. Many Serb officials believed that ethnic minorities, such as Albanians, should either leave the nation or accept Serb dominance. When those people did not leave the country, an ethnic massacre was carried out by their own country's army and was led by a leader elected through democratic elections.
