Methyl Orange is a pH indicator used in acid-base titrations. It exhibits different colors in acidic and basic mediums due to its structural changes:
- In an acidic medium (low pH), it exists in the quinonoid form, appearing red.
- In a basic medium (high pH), it converts to its benzenoid form, appearing yellow.
At the end point of a base vs. acid titration, when the medium is basic, methyl orange is present in its benzenoid form.
