Detailed Solution

Rabindranath Tagore led the folk revival movement in Bengal.
A campaign to revitalise Indian folklore also contributed to the development of nationalism. Nationalists in India started collecting folk tales recited by bards and touring villages to collect folk music and legends in the late eighteenth century. They thought these stories painted a true image of a traditional society that had been harmed and corrupted by outside influences. Therefore, this folk tradition had to be preserved if one wanted to rediscover their feeling of national identity and historical pride. Rabindranath Tagore himself started compiling ballads, nursery rhymes, and mythologies in Bengal, and he also led the folk revival movement.
