In Buddhism, Bodhisattvas were the enlightened ones who lived in complete isolation and performed meditation. Instead, they chose to teach the world about Buddha's teaching and help other people. Bodhisattvas came under the branch of Mahayana Buddhism described Bodhisattvas as people "who wanted to attain enlightenment and Buddhahood". Bodhisattvas are represented as more princely figures than any other sculptor of Buddha. The most important Bodhisattva was Avalokiteshvara, which was a Bodhisattva of compassion. Guanyin, often known as "the perceiver of all sounds," is a female figure holding a lotus in her left hand. Thus, Bodhisattvas were the person who had attained enlightenment and was to live in isolation and perform meditation.
